ETA® Certified Fiber Optic Technician (Journeyman Level)

GSA

Now Available On the GSA Schedule.

Our 5-day Fiber Optic Technician training is an advanced level course designed for all individuals who are at the level of a fiber optic installer, but wish to expand their knowledge of communication fiber optics. Fiber Optic Technicians are expected to obtain advanced knowledge of fiber optic concepts that will allow them to be involved with designing, configuring, installing, and maintaining fiber optic systems. Technicians will be able to test and troubleshoot a Local Area Network (LAN) system with various faults.

The course material prepares a student for taking the ETA® CFOT examination. Each student will be given a manual and exposed to 1-day classroom style lecture followed by 4-days of hands-on training. See Competency Requirements for an ETA® Certified Fiber Optic Technician.

This training course is designed for the fiber optic installer, system analysts, design engineer, technician supervisor, project manager or telecommunications professional.

The prerequisite for taking the ETA® FOT certification examination is possessing an ETA® FOI certification (or equivalent work experience in lieu of the FOI certification) and successful completion of this course.

Upon successful completing of the “hands-on” Skills Testing portion of the course, you may take the seventy-five (75) question multiple choice exam. You must receive a passing score of 75% or better (19 wrong or less) on the written exam and pass the Skills Testing portion of the course to earn certification as a Fiber Optics Technician through this program (One free retake is available).
